Our Team
Our team consists of experienced lawyers, information systems and security practitioners, data protection and privacy specialists, and project and programme managers who are high performers, experts and trailblazers in their fields. Our dedicated associates have a combined experience of over 30 years of delivering top-tiered services to local and international industries.
Our Founder
Dr. Corlane Barclay recognised the need for an insightful and holistic approach to data protection and privacy services in the Caribbean and established DPO Caribbean as a full spectrum service provider of data protection and privacy solutions.
Dr. Barclay recently served as a Major in the Jamaica Defence Force where she played several instrumental roles in many national cybersecurity initiatives including the formal review and revision of Jamaica's 2015 National Cybersecurity Strategy, works associated with national cybersecurity coordination, risk assessment, critical infrastructure protection, and the establishment of a national cybersecurity centre of excellence, the Caribbean Institute of Cyber Science. Dr. Barclay's experience in data protection and privacy can be framed within the technical, policy, legal and legislative perspectives due to a professional background in privacy programme management, privacy and security assessments, public policy, legislative development and advisory. Dr. Barclay is also a trained legislative drafter and former Parliamentary Counsel in Jamaica's national drafting office, the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel where she developed her expertise in the drafting of complex primary and subsidiary legislation, including technology and telecommunication related laws. Dr. Barclay has provided technical and legal advisory services to intergovernmental agencies in the Caribbean that span compliance support, data protection sensitisation and awareness, cybersecurity, data protection and privacy legislative considerations to support national and regional digital transformation efforts. In addition, Dr. Barclay has extensive experience in providing GDPR compliance support and other governance, risk and compliance (GRC) advisory to international companies.
